There's No Right or Wrong in Art

twoheadedserpentblog

While creating this art, I was going for a simple snake and dagger design, but ended up with a two headed lady snake. It’s hard for me to just do what is expected. I believe an artist must add to an idea or concept in order to make it their own. Almost anything artists create has more than likely been done before, but how we execute it and make it our own is what matters in the end.

I’m sure there are hundreds or maybe even thousands of two headed lady snake designs out there, and I’ve probably seen a couple in my time. But instead of sticking to the original concept “snake and dagger”,  I decided to go with something that would be a little more interesting. In result, the Two Headed Serpent was born.

My point is, don’t just do what is expected of you. Add your own style or taste to anything you touch. There’s no right or wrong in art, just remember to make it your own.

nightwatcherblog

This is probably one of the darkest pieces I have used for t-shirt art. Originally, this wasn’t going to be a Casas Ink tee, but with Halloween around the corner, it seemed appropriate for the occasion. The Night Watcher, a bat and devil hybrid creature carrying the evil eye to keep watch over the night, was added to the collection.

I definitely will admit I have some dark art, but this is almost too dark for me. When I say dark, I mean all the devil stuff. This will probably be the most devilish shirt you get out of me. So for all you devil worshipers, get it while you can! Just playing.

Dark imagery attracts individuals due to their curiosity, not because they’re evil or worship the devil. When I create images like The Night Watcher, I sometimes ask myself why I create such dark images. It’s definitely not because I am evil or believe in evil things, at least I don’t think so. My wife might disagree. *hahaha* But anyways, I believe I create such imagery to ward off evil rather than promote it. Kind of like fighting fire with fire.

gypsyblog

I'm not a native Texan *gasp* so there are some things I'm still trying to get used to. One of those things is that when people in other parts of the country start breaking out the sweaters, jackets, and scarves, we're still enjoying (or melting in) 90 degree weather here in Texas. In honor of our extended summer here in Texas, we have released a few new tank designs to keep y'all cool. No need to pack up the summer clothes even when the cold 60 degree weather (yes, that's cold!) does strike, because we'll be right back to sunshine and warm weather a few days later.

The new men's navy blue tank is a classic tattoo inspired skull and dagger design with a Casas Ink banner across it. The new women's tank has artwork of a beautiful gypsy with daggers and a rose. The indigo tank is more subtle and the royal blue (pictured) is a more bold option. Both will do the job to help keep you cool in the warmer weather, but more importantly, you get custom, limited edition art to rep.

ride or die t shirt

After many shows, I noticed that a lot of our fans rode bikes to the events here in San Antonio. To show some appreciation, I created a surreal sticker of a bike in the mountains with a skull in the overall design. The sticker was such a hit! Many demanded it on a shirt, so we did just that and released the Ride or Die T-shirt. We appreciate the love from the bike community and wanted to create a shirt just for y’all. The Ride or Die Tee is available online and at shows in unisex sizes, XS through XXL.
